Marie Berliner brings more than 35 years of focused experience in healthcare regulatory law. Since 1988, Marie has advised clients on Medicare, Medicaid, and state law matters, providing comprehensive guidance on compliance, operational concerns, licensure, and survey responses. Her counsel is particularly valued by hospitals, hospital systems, and hospice providers, as well as physician clinics, pharmacies, and home health agencies.​

Marie is recognized for her command of federal and state regulations, including EMTALA and Conditions of Participation. Marie earned her J.D. from George Washington University School of Law after graduating from Tufts University. During law school, she served as a Legal Fellow with Senator George Mitchell, gaining early insight into federal healthcare policy as part of the Senate Finance Health Subcommittee. Over her career, she has served at respected firms such as Joy & Young, LLP and Lambeth & Berliner, PLLC, as well as Gardner, Carton & Douglas in Washington, D.C., where she was engaged in Medicare Part A issues and lobbying efforts.​

She is admitted to practice in Texas and holds inactive memberships with the Maryland and District of Columbia Bars. Marie is an active member of the American Health Law Association and American Bar Association, and has contributed as a committee member with the Texas Association for Home Care and Hospice.

She is a frequent speaker at industry conferences, including regular sessions for the Texas and New Mexico Hospice Organization and the Texas Association for Home Care & Hospice. Her expertise is acknowledged in professional publications, highlighted by her recent co-authorship of “Chapter 21: EMTALA” in the American Health Law Association’s Representing Hospitals and Health Systems, Second Edition (2024).​
